Walt Disney World Resort Refurbishments
Here is a list of all temporary Disney World closings. It is not uncommon for Disney to change refurbishment times — to move up or postpone temporary closures — so check back as your trip gets closer! We update this post every week to reflect any changes. (Updated May 20, 2025)

Several exciting developments are planned for Disney World in the coming years, including the introduction of a new Monsters, Inc. Land at Hollywood Studios, the transformation of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster into a Muppets-themed attraction, and the replacement of DinoLand USA with a new Tropical Americas section at Animal Kingdom. Additionally, new Cars and Villains Lands are set to debut at Magic Kingdom. Information on any construction or closures related to these projects is provided below, and updates will be shared as details are confirmed. - Winter Summerland Winter Course and Summer Course will undergo refurbishment from April 28 to June 16, 2025. During this time, guests will be unable to reserve tee times, but one course will remain open so guests may visit without a reservation.

Disney World Resort Hotels
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Room refurbishment work will take place at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort from September 2024 to September 2025.
- From Jan. 26, 2026, to early May 2026, the Bay Cove Pool, water play area and whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower will temporarily be closed for maintenance. The Bay Lake Pool, the feature pool, water play area and whirlpool spa at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will remain open for guests to enjoy.
Disney’s Beach Club Resort
- Beginning in January 2025, Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts are currently undergoing refurbishments. While guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours, most Resort hotel amenities will remain available.
- Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will undergo routine maintenance from January 2025 to June 2025.
Disney’s Beach Club Villas
- Beginning in January 2025, Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts are currently undergoing refurbishments. While guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours, most Resort hotel amenities will remain available.
- Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will undergo routine maintenance from January 2025 to June 2025.
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- From Feb. 17 to April 30, 2025, the lobby will undergo refurbishment. While it will remain open and all amenities are available, guests may hear or see construction during daytime hours.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Refurbishments will occur in select areas of Disney’s Contemporary Resort — including Bay Lake Tower and the Convention Center. During this time, the Skyway Bridge may have intermittent closures, but alternative walking paths can be used. Please allow for extra travel time. Guests may also see and hear construction during their stay.
- From Jan. 26, 2026, to early May 2026, the Bay Cove Pool, water play area and whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower will temporarily be closed for maintenance. The Bay Lake Pool, the feature pool, water play area and whirlpool spa at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will remain open for guests to enjoy.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
- Beginning April 28, 2025, construction will take place near the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool area. The Meadow Swimmin’ Pool and Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool will remain open for guests to enjoy. The nearby tennis courts, volleyball court and the Meadow Playground will be closed temporarily. Guests may see and hear construction in the area until the work is complete.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- From April to November 2025, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will be undergoing refurbishment in the lobby and convention center areas. Guests may see and hear construction during daytime hours. In addition, portions of the lobby may be closed at times, but pools, dining and most other Resort hotel areas will remain available. Please allow extra time for travel, as some adjustments to walking paths may be in place.
The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is currently undergoing refurbishment. Guests will be able to see and hear construction around the resort – including the lobby – during daytime hours. Most Resort hotel amenities will remain available. Please allow for extra travel time.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
- Some areas of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are being refurbished through 2026. Guests may see and hear some daytime construction, starting at 9 a.m. Additionally, some views of the theme parks and other surrounding areas may be impacted.
Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows
- Some areas of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are being refurbished through 2026. Guests may see and hear some daytime construction, starting at 9 a.m. Additionally, some views of the theme parks and other surrounding areas may be impacted.
Disney’s Pop Century Resort
- From late March 2025 to mid-February 2026, guest rooms at Pop Century will undergo refurbishment. While all resort amenities will be available, guests may notice construction during daytime hours.
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside
- From early April 2025 to the end of January 2026, guest rooms in the Magnolia Bend section will undergo refurbishment. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours.
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Starting Aug. 5, 2024, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will undergo exterior refurbishment work. During this time, guests may see and hear construction work during daytime hours.
- Whispering Canyon Cafe will be closed for refurbishment from May 12-21, 2025.
The Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- From mid-May 2025 to September 2025, Copper Creek Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will undergo exterior refurbishment work. During this time, guests may see and hear construction work during daytime hours.
Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
- Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will undergo routine maintenance from January 2025 to June 2025.
- Beginning in January 2025, Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts are currently undergoing refurbishments. While guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours, most Resort hotel amenities will remain available.
Disney World Transportation
Disney Skyliner
- From Jan. 25-31, 2026, Disney Skyliner will be closed for refurbishment. Complimentary bus service will be available for Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Boardwalk Inn and Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club Resorts.
Walt Disney World Seasonal Closures
Seasonal closures are those that take place annually and are usually a reoccurrence. These dates are estimates based on past closures.
- Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park: Closes November through April for seasonal refurbishment
- Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park: Closes May through October for seasonal refurbishment (however, in 2025, it will remain open from May 21 to Sept. 7)
- Kali River Rapids: Usually closes early January into February and sometimes March for seasonal refurbishment
- Jungle Cruise: Closes late Oct./early Nov. for holiday overlay installation; early January for holiday overlay removal
